Phyllis Womack Obituary

Phyllis Ann Womack entered eternal life, peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Phyllis was born on September 20, 1948 in Prince Edward County, Virginia to Mattie Lee Watkins. As a young child she joined the family of Addie and Lewis Spencer. She was educated in Charlotte County and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, Phyllis moved to East Orange, New Jersey and worked as a Teacher’s Aide for many years until she retired. Phyllis returned to Virginia in 1997 and settled in Appomattox.

At an early age she professed her faith and became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and remained active while living in the area.

Phyllis was joined in Holy Matrimony to her longtime sweetheart, Roger M. Womack on December 21, 1968 in Abilene, Virginia. They shared forty-five loving years together prior to his death. They were the parents of a daughter and were blessed with a grandson.

Upon her return to the area, Phyllis joined the St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen, Virginia where she became an active member of the deaconess ministry. Her faith in God and her dedication to the church never wavered. She remained faithful until her health failed and she was no longer able attend.

Phyllis was a social, active lady who was deeply involved in helping and caring for others the majority of her life. Although Phyllis could be very stern, her family and friends will always remember her loving and generous nature.

Memories of Phyllis will be shared by her survivors who include: her daughter, Kathy Womack of Prospect, Virginia; her grandson, Marlon  Fleshman, Jr., of Appomattox, Virginia; two sisters, Edith W.
