May 6, 1921 ~ September 22, 2019 (age 98)

Obituary

Ruth Louise Johnson Watts, best known as (Louise), 98, of Spout Spring, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on September 22, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Aurelius Watts. Louise was born May 6, 1921. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Mozelle Cox,  Ida Rucker and Susie Spinner.

Louise was raised during an era of some of the greatest inventions of all time, such as the automobile, airplane and television. She was around during the period of intensified hangings committed by the Ku Klux Klan and segregation was very much alive. Louise was strong minded enough to exist and conquer in the ugliest times of America. She experienced some of the greatest poets and jazz artists who started making their breakthrough, such as Langston Hughes, a poet and Louis Armstrong, an american jazz musician. She lived to see the many era's of her time, and extended her experiences through teaching her family.

Louise was a devoted church member of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church and Mother of the Church at the time of her death.  She served on the choir, food committee, usher board and was a Deaconess. Louise retired from Amelia Dress Factory after more than 25 years of employment.

Louise spent over 30 years as an Avon representative and loved every minute of the relationships created with her clients in the community, who naturally became her friends. She was also an Eastern Star and loved her Eastern Star Family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Sidney A. Watts Sr. of Amherst Virginia, ten grandchildren: Sharon (Herbert) Fleshman, Brigid Goldring,  Sheena (Lacy) Webb, Theresa Accoo, Sidney (Qwenetta) Watts, Laverne Hix, Tony Watts, Clint (Coretta) Walker, Subrina  Clark, Kenton Watts, nineteen great grandchildren,  twenty-one great-great grandchildren, and three great-great-great grandchildren.

Special thank you to Liberty Ridge staff for the great care they gave Ruth Louise Watts, in her final years.

Our Ma
By: Shemeka Watts

Our Ma,
a courageous woman of God,
who was loved by so many.
Her faith was so strong,
she fiercely led her tribe of children.

Our Ma,
whose giving hands were so plentiful,
you'd think she was an angel.
She gave us all that we needed and more.
Her divine works allowed her to give love everlasting.

Our Ma,
was a virtuous woman and wife,
who lived an amazingly beautiful,
long, fruitful life.
Her smile was a ray of sunshine,
that illuminated in our hearts.

Our Ma,
had a selfless character,
that cared for six generations.
She stood with a strong and proud stance,
making sure all of her children received their chance in her lap.

Our Ma,
the memories that we have made,
cannot be forgotten.
You celebrated 98 years of a glorious life.
The time has come for you to be rewarded.
Now as you are laid to rest,
a new journey for our family begins.
Although we wish you could have stayed,
we'll put our memories of you on replay.
