Mrs. Alease H. Browder departed this life on August 20, 2022 at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Campbell County on February 26, 1932 to Henry and Lucinda Hamlette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Browder, Jr.; several siblings, James, Ray Jr., David and Herman Hamlette, Leatha Moss, Ellen Stevens, and Annie Humbles; a daughter-in-law, June Hamlette, a granddaughter Arnetha Goode and brother-in-law John Cousins.
Alease attended school in the Carver School system. She was an excellent baker and cook and a very hard worker. Alease had the privilege of working several jobs; the garment factory, Jeanine’s Restaurant, Thomasville Furniture, the Salvation Army and Areva until she retired from working. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age. Alease was a faithful member and founder of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Ministry, senior choir, Sunday school treasury, Trustee board and kitchen coordinator until her health failed her.
Alease is survived by her children; Winfred (Juanita) and Dennis Hamlette, Wanda, John and Anthony Browder; several grandchildren, Tameka Johnson, Keyanta Carter (Ricky), Jamal Hamlette (Tiffany), Stephen Hamlette, Chelsea Dews, Tyrkie Scott, Shmar Browder and Brandon Staling; two sisters, Pearline Cousins and Deloris Mizell (Mike); one brother, Rev. Charles Hamlette, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and an adopted grandchild Megan Colgate.

Viewing at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, 1 p.m. at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 14287 Richmond Highway, Appomattox, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
