On Thursday, July 09, 2020, after a long-fought battle with a harsh and unyielding cancer illness, Bobby Ray Hines, Jr. “BJ/”B” willingly accepted the fate of leaving this world. At an early age, BJ accepted Christ and joined the New Witt Baptist Church. He knew God makes no mistakes and losing his world battle would not keep him from his father’s heavenly reward, in being with the Lord. He was a graceful fighter and was at peace with his physical dilemma. BJ would fellowship with anyone whenever possible knowing that his life had meaning and quality.
BJ was born on June 17, 1978, in Farmville, Virginia. He attended Prince Edward County Schools, Challenge Military Academy and Hampton University. While attending Hampton BJ met Tiffany Ballinger and a special relationship was formed. From this union Daijah N. Hines was born. BJ chose to follow his dream and pursued a career in music and entertainment. B was a successful DJ throughout Virginia and Florida for many years. BJ was a very adventurous and outgoing person that loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Hines, Sr.; Grandparents, John & Odesser Hines and Lucille Wise. Also, a close brother-in-law Crawford “Lewis” Rucker and close cousin/God sister Alicia Hines, two aunts and four uncles.
BJ leaves to mourning his passing, his daughter Daijah Hines “his great day” of Tampa, FL; his loving mother Catherine Hines-Smith; stepfather, Gary Smith and his loving big sister Priscilla Davis (James) all of Farmville, VA; a devoted little brother, Derrick Hines, Sr., (Phylicia) of South Chesterfield, VA; step-siblings, Erinne, Tracy & Dexter; three nephews, Lapierre Davis, Derrick Hines, Jr.; and a special nephew who helped with his care, Corey Bratton; two nieces, Layla Thompson and Derae’ Hines; great nephew, Eli Davis and great niece Malia Davis; God parents and his Uncle Thomas and Aunt Bernice Hines; God sister, Perkita Hines all of Meherrin, VA; surviving uncle, Ronnie and wife, Minister Geneva Hines; surviving aunts; Minister Joyce (Marvin) Richards of Green Bay, VA, Gertrude Hines of Long Island, New York, Lucille Hines of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dorothy Hines of Meherrin, VA; one devoted aunt, Dr. Barbara Chatman, Ph.D. (Tyrone) of Mechanicsville, VA and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
