Brenda Delores (Stevens) Johns

Brenda Delores Stevens-Johns departed this life on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald and her sister Goldie.

Brenda was born June 17, 1956, to George W. and Dorothy Stevens. She has been a resident of Appomattox her entire life and was educated in the local schools. She attended First Baptist Church with her mother, Dorothy, from birth until the 1960s when she joined and served at Galilee Baptist Church until 1986. Then, New Jerusalem Baptist Church became her church home where she remained until death. She married Theodore W. Johns in 1973 and two children were born from that union – Katrina and Theotis Johns. She worked as a caregiver for many years. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as visiting the local thrift shop.

Brenda leaves to mourn her mother Dorothy; brother, John Sr., sister, Carol; daughter, Katrina; son; Theotis, 3 grandchildren: Jeremy, Victor, and Angelica; 3 great-grandchildren; Victor Jr, Karma, and Jayce; a devoted longtime friend and caregiver Mary Randolph Preston and Ronnie McCoy, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a devoted Church family and a host of loving friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Appomattox, VA with interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the chapel of Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
