Charles William Evans was born on December 31, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Carroll Evans, Sr. and Marjorie Lewis Evans. He was the youngest of two children and peacefully departed this life on January 31, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital following a brief illness.
Charles attended school in Baltimore County, Maryland graduating from Sparrows Point High School. Following his education, he enlisted in the Air Force and after returning to civilian life he was employed at Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, and the State of Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.
Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at Greater St. John Baptist Church in Turner Station, Baltimore County, Maryland. Later in life he became a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Appomattox, Virginia where he continued his spiritual journey until his passing. He loved the Lord and would help with numerous church events; whether it was a role in a church play, cooking church dinners, or supervising parking on the church lot.
In 1991 Charles married Katherine Jones and from this union he was blessed with two sons, Charles, Jr. "Chas" and Joshua.
Charles affectionately known to family and friends as "Chucky" had a cheerful spirit and was loved by all. He was always smiling and telling jokes to entertain his relatives and friends. He loved music and dancing, most time showing he could out do his brother. Charles grew up with a special relationship with his cousin Eric Lewis who was born 22 days after him. Although he resided in Virginia he maintained a love for his (TS) Turner Station family, the Oakland Raiders, Ravens, Orioles and Washington Wizards. He was a talented carpenter and electrician who assisted with numerous home improvement projects with his father Carroll, Sr. brother Carroll, Jr., nephew Maurice and his beloved late uncle LeRoy Lewis. Chucky loved to cook and eat as well. He was especially known to his family for cooking his favorite Italian sausage smothered with peppers and onions and his barbeque spareribs. He described each dish as "finger lickin' good." It was always expected for Chucky to show up at the famiy reunions and cookouts with a dish or to take command of the barbeque grill.
Chucky was a loving person who always talked about his family ... The Evans, Lewis, and Pankey families. Chucky had a nickname for almost everyone. His mind was like a time-clock recalling experiences that occurred within the family that no one else seemed to remember. He will be forever remembered for his infamous remark following every phone call or visit, always bidding farewell by saying, "Love and Peace Out", which he changed to "Be A Blessing" the last couple of years.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted mother, Marjorie Evans; sons Charles, Jr. and Joshua; brother Carroll Evans, Jr. (Marinda); nephews Tavares Evans and Maurice Evans, Brian, Dwayne, DeQwan, Da"Tavious, Isaiah, Alvin, Rod, Tyrek; nieces Carrlyn Evans, Lauren Provoteaux, Lindsay Payne, LaToya, Jessica, La'Tesha, Shaniya; great nieces J"Nice, Jordyn, Lydia, Elle and Madalyn; great nephews Jalen, Tavares, Jr., Gavin, Mali, Maurice, Jr., and Lee; godchildren, Jessica, and Corey; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
