On Monday, April 13, 2026, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called home our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dorothy Brogdon Davis was born June 6, 1950 to the late Charlie and Frances Walthall Brogdon. Preceding her is death is her husband, Henry E. Davis, and her siblings Alonzo, Henry, Joanne and Hazel.
Dorothy was born and raised in Campbell County. She was a faithful member of the Hat Creek Baptist Church until her health began to fail. Dorothy was a hard worker and was employed at the Lynchburg Foundry and lastly retired for Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by two daughters; Tonyia (Walter) Kelso and Stephanie Davis and her devoted friend Hillary Wade. Two grandsons Rontae Brogdon (friend Ellen Schneider) and Garry Brogdon (friend Monique Hanson) all of Appomattox, VA; six great-grandchildren, Amani, Zavian, Arriannah, Xnylay, Paisley and Marcus whom affectionately called her “Granny”; one sister, Bernice Brogdon of Lynchburg, VA; three brothers, Wesley and Charlie of Lynchburg, VA and Jimmy (Christine) and James (Maria) all of Appomattox, VA.; sisters-in-law Marsha Brogdon and Delma Hamlett both of Lynchburg, VA; Norma Hodge and Ada Coleman both of Appomattox, VA.; brother-in-laws Robert Davis, Halifax, VA and Conway Davis of Appomattox, VA.; her cousin/sister/bestie Mary Baker and a host of nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.; special niece Catherine Broadwater; Special friends Maricca Jones, Teresa Haskins and Juanita Robinson.
Thanks to all of the doctors and nurses and Hospice who cared for our mom.
A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Davis on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 1 p.m., at Hat Creek Baptist Church, 4762 Hat Creek Rd., Brookneal, VA 24528. She can be viewed one hour before service at the church.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
