Dorothy Christine (Higginbotham) McCoy

Dorothy Christine Higginbotham McCoy answered God’s call on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her siblings:  Eleanor Cashwell, Juanita Morris, Helen Thompson, Raddie Higginbotham and Wiley Higginbotham, Eddie Higginbotham, Samuel Higginbotham and Miles Higginbotham; one son, Garland McCoy, Jr., daughter, Christina Higginbotham and one grandson, Terkais McCoy.

Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them as well as her love for drinking coffee.  Her hobbies included playing bingo and talking on the telephone.

Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her children:  Sam Diggs of Amherst, Hershey Diggs (Kim) of Appomattox, Walter Higginbotham of Appomattox, and one daughter Deborah McCoy Goins (Horace) of Appomattox; eight precious grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy also leaves to cherish her memory a special friend James Sandidge and numerous family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

A private family funeral service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021.
