Earl Nathaniel Claiborne was born June 25, 1935 to the late William “Mack” Claiborne & Mary Gillispie Claiborne in Buckingham, VA. He departed this life on August 20, 2022 at The Woodland in Farmville, VA.
He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized & joined the St. Joy Baptist Church. In his early age he was a member of the Traveling Aires until his job had him working every Sunday. Currently his daughter Denise is carrying this ministry of music on and still singing praises to God with this gospel group.
Earl drove trucks for over 60 years. He had his own truck & then worked for employers such as Guy Harris, J.E. Jamerson & F.L. Moore. Earl’s CB handle was “Flying Squirrel”. The love of his life was being in his truck until his health began to fail & he then retired.
Earl was preceded in death by: his parents, William & Mary Claiborne; two brothers, William & Jerry Claiborne; one son, Kenneth Dabney & son-in-law Reginald Austin.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Brenda Thompson & Denise Austin; two sons, Roderick & Dennis Claiborne; seven grandchildren, Donovan Dabney, Dottie Dabney, Tonya Young (Angelo), Michael Thompson, Tesia Thompson (Tyjhe), Brittany Turner (DeAngelo), Brandon Blakey (Von) & sixteen great-grandchildren: Donovan, Jr., Nathaniel, Camaya, Makayla, Tyeshena, Tre’Quan, Tanasia, Tevin, Reminisce, Serenity, Nariyah, Isreal, Ta’Mir, Shadajah, Hakeem, Dasani & a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & friends.
A funeral service has been scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2022, 12 noon at St. Joy Baptist Church, Buckingham, VA. Masks are required.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home. Masks are required.
