On July 2, 2023 Elva Lee Booker Mosley passed away at her home in Waynesboro, VA. She was born to Will and Dorothy Daye Booker and raised in the Appomattox, VA area.
Elva joined the Mt. Airy Baptist Church at an early age.
She graduated from Carver-Price High School in 1968. After graduating high school Elva joined Job Corps.
Upon completing Job Corps Elva worked in New York City. She married Willie Mosley and to this union one child was born, LaGretta. Elva then began her career with the Department of Defense and was able to travel to a variety of different countries while accompanying her husband as he served in the US Army.
Elva is preceded in death her husband Willie Mosley of 50 years; father, Will Booker and mother Dorothy D. Booker; brother, Curtis Booker and sisters Mary Mullen, Ruby Kelly; two sister-in-laws, Brenda Moss and Linda Mosley and brother-in-law Willie Chambers.
Left to cherish her memories: her daughter, LaGretta Mosley-Green (Dewain) of Hope Mills, NC; her three grandchildren, Aja of Raleigh, NC; Brian and Dewain both of Hope Mills, NC; four sisters; Selina Johnson (Rich) of Waynesboro, VA, Joletta Dillard (Joe) of Appomattox, VA, Carolyn Pennix (Harold) of Appomattox, VA and Valerie Pankey (John) of Madison Heights, VA. Also left to cherish her memory is three brother-in-laws, Edward Mosley (Barbara), William Abbitt , Richard Abbitt; three sister-in-laws, Mammie Mays, Clara Chambers, Tammy Abbitt and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Elva was greatly loved and will be missed by her family and friends
A funeral service for Mrs. Mosley will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, 1 p.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the Bruce and Stiff Funeral Home.
