On Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, John Edward Humbles, Jr. age 58, born April 23rd, 1968, returned to his eternal resting place, by way of Central Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Virginia. John, affectionately known as Edward, was born to Wilma Jean and John Humbles, Sr., in Lynchburg, Virginia. He lived in Appomattox most of his life and joined Mt. Airy Baptist Church at an early age; and he sang in a gospel group with his cousins during his early 20’s. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Edward was kind-hearted, funny, loving, and had a devout love for his family, kids and grandkids. He will be sorely missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, John Humbles, Sr., and Gloria Humbles; his partner, Betty Ann Younger; his sister, Cara (Donald); three children, Marcus, Jasmine, and Desiree; twelve grandchildren, and one nephew; along with many beloved relatives and friends who will miss Edward dearly.
He is preceded in death by his mother Wilma Jean Watson, grandparents Walter Watson and Elva Christine Watson, Payton and Pankey Humbles; brother, Roger Humbles and many beloved relatives who are missed dearly.

The family will have a visitation on Friday, May 8th, 2026, 11:00-5:00 pm, Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home in Appomattox. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Bruce and Stiff Funeral Home.
