Karin was a brilliant woman who loved to learn. She earned multiple master's degrees and applied them to positions that allowed her to get hands-on with making the world a better place. As a biochemical engineer, she assisted in developing programs to help understand the spread of AIDS. As a social worker and Special Education teacher, she was a strong voice for children who needed it. At the VA hospital, she helped intubate patients and interpreted sleep study results. All while also running a horse rescue and breeding Labradors to be used as therapy and service dogs for children and veterans. Karins biggest passion in life was animals. Karin loved as strong and hard as she worked. She remained great friends with her first husband Joe. She became a widow when her second husband Willis was tragically killed in a traffic accident. Her boyfriend Mel cared for her and was by her side when she passed from the glioblastoma. Karin did not have any children of her own, but her niece Lauren was like a daughter to her. Karin was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend to all of those who were lucky enough to know her. Karin lived a full life and loved to travel with her mother Grace and best friend Laura. From penthouse parties in Washington DC to cleaning out stalls in South Carolina, Karin was always living her best life. Karin's family and friends should find peace in knowing that she is now free from pain and reunited her baby sister Kristl, her father Frank, and all her animals who had passed before her.
