Mr. Leo Bernard Kelso, age 66, entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2020 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born on August 8, 1953 to the late Monroe Jackson Kelso, Sr. and Helen Fleshman Kelso.
Leo is preceded in death by his father Monroe Kelso, Sr., a son Bernard Kelso, Jr., one sister, Helen Faye Fleshman and a brother, Monroe Kelso, Jr.
Bernard as we all knew him by was a very funny person to be around. He loved having fun. Most of all he loved building houses, brick laying, carpentry and electrical work, doing yard work and just fixing things.
He is survived by his mother Helen Kelso, of the home; two daughters, Nikita Kelso and Kristi Kelso both of Petersburg, VA; one son, Marquise Davis of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Barbara Woodson (Sammy) of Spout Spring, VA and Thelma Kelso of Appomattox, VA; two brothers, Ben Kelso and Ward Kelso (Janet) both of Appomattox, VA; a God brother, Rev. Ronnie Mosley (Jackie) of Concord, VA; five grandchildren, two uncles, Rev. Harrison Kelso of Spout Spring, VA and Nathaniel Kelso of Washington, D.C.
He also leaves to cherish his memory a devoted ex-wife Julia Pope; a devoted cousin William Kelso, two devoted friends Norman Ferguson and Eric Jones and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 2 p.m., from the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home chapel, 1121 Old Courthouse Rd., Appomattox, VA. Interment will be in the Kelso Family Cemetery, Wildway Rd., Appomattox. The Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home is professionally serving the family.
