Lillie Irene (Nicholas) Wayne

 Lillie Irene Wayne was born October 7, 1934 to the late John and Hattie Nicholas of Buckingham, VA. She preferred to be called Irene to everyone who she came in contact with. On Monday June 16, 2025 she went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Lillie Irene was baptized at an early age, in Buckingham, VA and was a faithful member of Warminster Baptist Church. She served on the Hospitality Committee for many years. Lillie Irene was a homemaker. On November 12, 1998, she married Samuel P. Wayne Jr.

Lillie Irene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Nicholas, three sisters, one brother, one son-in-law, niece and nephews, her children's father the late James (Shack) Perkins and her late husband Samuel P. Wayne Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters Carol Payne and Amanda (Rodney) Gilliam. Her three grandchildren Renee, Diane, and Lee Payne. One Great Grandson Kaiden Scruggs and one Great Granddaughter on the way, two sister-in-laws Pauline Lee and Lucille Nicholas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Family of the Late Lillie Irene Wayne wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all acts of kindness extended to them during this time of bereavement.  A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Warminster Baptist Church, 2203 Warminster Church Road, Buckingham, VA  23921.  Family and friends will assemble at the church.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home, 1121 Old Courthouse Rd., Appomattox, VA  24522
