Matthew Edward Marshall

Matthew Edward Marshall, known as “Duck” went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2018.  He was born on July 29, 1972 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Ruby Megginson and Leonard Marshall.

He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Pamplin, Virginia, later joining Alabama Baptist Church in Pamplin, Virginia.  Matthew attended Appomattox County Schools.

In December 2016 he was united in marriage to Lershunder Broadwater.

Duck was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Megginson and Leonard Marshall; sister, Patricia Chambers and brother-in-law Robert Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Leshunder; sisters, Joyce Chambers (Joe), Doreen Jackson (Mike), Sandra Ligon (Buddy), Shirley Green (James), Mary Horsley (John), and one brother, Leonard Marshall (Shonae) and other family members and friends.

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you 
And whispered "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
