Melissa Viola Kyle Howard, 44, of Buckingham, Virginia was called to rest on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She spent her life caring for and helping others. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister. To know Melissa was to know the meaning of love. She loved everyone and throughout her career, she tried to help everyone she could without hesitation.
Melissa was born on January 8, 1977, in Charlottesville, Virginia to Dorothy Jean Alston. Melissa was preceded in death by her grandmother, Frances Aline Kyle, stepfather, Charles Lee Alston, and a devoted friend, Christina Bartee.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of nineteen years, William Lee Howard; three sons, Drequan Scott (Damonica) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Delondre (Joanne) and Delonte Howard; one daughter, Destiny Howard; her loving mother, Dorothy Alston (Thomas); three siblings, Michelle Gough (Duane), Willie Kyle (Lynn), Felicia Bledsoe (Coy), all of Buckingham, Virginia; her mother-in-law, Lillie Feggans; one sister-in-law, Linda Winfrey (Brock); two brothers-in-law, Jerome A. Johnson (Sharon), John Howard, all of Charlottesville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Skylar Mae Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
She also leaves to cherish her memory special devoted friends, Wanda and Bobby Kucera-Eksteen of Charlottesville, Virginia, Lucy Hill Lamont) of Palmyra, Virginia, Carolyn Monroe (Floyd), whom she was like a sister, of Buckingham, Virginia.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home, 1121 Old Courthouse Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021, 2 p.m. at the VFW Post in Buckingham, VA. Public viewing will be held from 1 p.m until the time of service.
