Obituary

Fannie Marie Humbles departed this life on November 29, 2022.  She was born in Rustburg, VA to the late Robert and Louise Napier on April 16, 1942.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased  in death by her husband, Rev. Ernest Humbles, Sr., son, Scottie Humbles, daughter, Amanda Humbles; two brothers, Rev. Warren and Richard Napier and brother-in-law Wayne Franklin.

She joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Rustburg, VA at an early age and later moved her membership to Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Appomattox and then to Jordan Baptist Church in Appomattox before her death.

Minister Humbles trusted God completely and listened daily for God’s instructions.  She was selfless, lived to please God and tried to allow God to order her steps.  She was a great example of a godly woman who followed God, and there is no doubt her legacy followed her to Heaven.

Sister Fannie leaves to cherish her memories her three sons, Ernest Humbles, Jr., (Gloria) of Concord, VA, Paul Humbles (Debbie) of Appomattox and Evan Humbles (Cirila) of Concord, VA.  She had a nephew whom she thought of as a son, Gregory Franklin; a sister Julia Franklin of Greensboro, NC and a brother John Napier of Lynchburg, VA., eight plus extended grandchildren, seven plus extended great-grandchildren, a devoted sister-in-law Rev. Dr. Dorothy Napier, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

~We Had a Wonderful Mother~

By an Unknown Author

We had a wonderful mother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful mother,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
She will like what she sees.
