Peggy Ann Jones

Peggy Ann Jones, 72, of Appomattox, VA gained her heavenly wings, Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital.  She was born December 30, 1949 to Mary Beatrice Goode of Appomattox, VA and the late Eugene Dent Irving.  Peggy was preceded in death by her husband James Jones, her sister, Delores Powell (Claude), and her brother Eugene Irving.

Anyone who knew Peggy Ann knew that she was the life of the party.  She loved to laugh, to smile, listen to music, and dance but above all she would do anything for anyone.  She definitely had a heart of gold.  Peggy Ann loved her friends and family so much.  Most of Peggy Ann’s life was spent in Appomattox, VA, even though years of her life were spent in Washington, DC where she then met her late husband James Jones.

Those left to cherish her memories are her mother, Mary Beatrice Goode, her sister Rosa Housen (late Herbert Housen); two brothers, Hiawatha Irving and Otis Irving and her only daughter, Danita Clark (Iris).  Peggy Ann also shared much of her life with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Also, we want to give a big thanks to her closest friend that was like her sister Bonnie Williams and also her niece Catherine Marshall.

A funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Appomattox, VA.  She will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.  Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bruce and Stiff Funeral Home.
