Raymond Morgan Obituary

“To Everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven…”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

“A Time to be Born”  Raymond Morgan was born on March 21, 1950 in Lynchburg, VA. He was the eldest of three children born to the late Edward and Illienoise Morgan.

“ A Time to Learn and Work”  Ray graduated from Carver Price High School in Appomattox, VA in 1968.  In 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, the late Peggy Morgan Hannah, and one child, Renee Morgan was born into this union.  He professed his love of traveling which took him to South Carolina. There he took a position as a cross-country truck driver, with Blevins, Inc.  In 1990, he relocated to Harrisburg, PA to be near his family.  His career as a truck driver spanned over 25 years, and he retired in 2017 from JB Hunt Transport, Inc.

“A Time to Worship and Serve”  At an early age, Ray confessed Jesus Christ as his personal savior and attended Bethlehem Baptist and Canaan Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA.

He enjoyed volunteering his time as a little league assistant baseball coach for the Exchange Club of Harrisburg and was also a faithful member of the 71 Unity Lodge, which he attended until his health declined.

“A Time for Family and Friends”  “Uncle Ray,” to some, enjoyed helping others and spending time with family and friends.  He had a passion for football and was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His favorite attire included his cowboy boots and his Dallas Cowboy cap, engaging in conversation about his team wherever he went. In his spare time he loved working on cars with his friends and watching his westerns on TV.  He will be remembered for his jovial laugh, his smile, and talking smack about his football team.

“A Time to Die”  Ray was called to the Lord after a long illness, on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Carolyn’s House, HBC in Harrisburg, PA surrounded by his family.

“A Time to Mourn”  He leaves to cherish his loving memory one daughter, Renee Morgan, son-in-law, Roger Blackburn; two grandchildren, Darrwin Morgan (Ashley) and DaVante Blackburn; two great grandchildren, Dash and Graham Morgan, all of MD; two sisters, Loretta Kirkham (John) and Jacquetta McCoy of Harrisburg, PA; one aunt, Mattie Ferguson Scott of Lynchburg, VA. His cousin Jacqueline Anderson (Calvin), whom  he loved as a sister, of Lynchburg, VA; his beloved friend and caretaker, Jacqueline Wilkins of Harrisburg, PA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We love you and will miss you!

REVELATION

God hath not promised

Skies always blue,

Flower-strewn pathways

All our lives through;

God hath not promised

Sun without rain,

Joy without sorrow,

Peace without pain.

But God hath promised

Strength for the day,

Rest for the labor,

Light for the way

Grace for the trials,

Help from above.

Unfailing sympathy,

Undying love…

~~Annie Johnson Flint~~

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
