Sarah Alice Anderson, affectionally called “Pudden” entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in Hixburg, Va. She was born on November 11, 1941, in Appomattox County. Sarah was the third child born to the late Leslie Walker and Helen Chambers Ligon. She was predeceased in death by two brothers, Junior and Freddie Walker.
At an early age, Sarah Alice joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Hixburg, Va. She received her formal education in the Appomattox County Public Schools. Leaving VA, Sarah resided in New Jersey and Michigan. She spent many years being a Nanny to different families. Sarah loved cooking, traveling on bus trips, raising children, and taking care of a household.
While residing in Detroit, Michigan, Sarah Alice attended King Solomon and various area churches.
Upon returning to Va., in 2005, Sarah Alice rejoined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She professed her faith in the Lord. Sarah was a very independent woman, who loved shopping at the local Wal-Mart. Her family was very important to her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four brothers, Arthur Walker (Gloria) and Willie Walker (Ruby) of Michigan; Henry Walker (Willene), N.C., and John Walker, Pamplin; three sisters, Annette Walker (Henderson), Maryland; Carolyn Wardell (Leon) and Gertrude Wesley (Rev. Stanley), Pamplin; several step-brothers and step-sisters
residing in various states; aunts, Odell Chambers, Ealdon Saunders, Jenny B. Chambers, and Virginia Goode; uncle, Abraham Lincoln Chambers (Cindy); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Forever love to two special nephews, John and Jonas Price, and cousin who is a very dear, devoted friend Bernice Walker.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021. A public viewing will be held on Friday, 12 noon until 6 p.m. from the chapel of the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
