Sarah Juanita (Johnson) Wright

Sarah J. Wright, age 84, of Appomattox County, departed this life on June 24, 2025 in Charlottesville, VA.  She was born on January 4, 1941 to the late Lewis and Martha Glover Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen “Jack” Wright, Jr., and her siblings, David Johnson, Lewis Johnson, and Robert Lee Johnson; her son-in-law Clifton Mosley; grandson-in-law Jermaine Jones and special friends Shirley Mosley and Helen Kelso.

Sarah was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandma, and friend.  She loved to do work around the house, cooking, helping others and gardening.  Sarah loved getting family together for family events.  She was an all-around sweet person.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons; Walter Johnson (Teresa) and Donald Johnson (Ethel); her daughters, Bettie Johnson, Ella Simms, and Gloria Hill (Robert); four brothers, Harry Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Birch Johnson and William Johnson (Hope); two sisters, Sadie “Louise” Harris and Martha Ann Johnson.  Her grandchildren includes Kimberly Jones, Erica Gray (Chauston), Keith Simms, Craig Simms, Dominique Johnson, Rico Johnson, Jonathan Trent, Monique Johnson, Stephon Mitchell, Stephanie Johnson, Greg Mosley, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Special friends who were dear to her include Lillie Wiley, Ben Kelso, Ashley Christian, Ann Baker, Virginia Wright and many more loved ones.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 14287 Richmond Hwy., Appomattox, VA  24522.  Mrs. Wright will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
