Obituary/Testament of Life
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, niece, and friend, Shirley Mae Walker Henry departed this life in Appomattox, Virginia on June 28, 2018.
She was born April 18, 1953 and was the second child of Wilson Walker & Rosa Walker Smith. She attended Randolph Henry and graduated Class of 1971. She also graduated from Woodrow Wilson Culinary School.
At an early age, Shirley Mae accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Red House, Virginia where she enjoyed singing songs of inspiration and praise.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Clarence, her uncle Otis, and two grandsons: Andre Tam Henry & Zachary Ashton Watkins.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, five children: Daniel Brown Henry, Jr. (Barbara), Angela Danielle Henry, Matthew Earnest Wilson Henry, Savannah Sheree’ Mattell Henry (Daniel Flowers), HarryLee John Arthur Henry; nine grandchildren: Porsha, Jahnyia, Jade, Danielle, Daniel III, Nyasia, Tamina, Earl, and Isaiah; two great-grandchildren: Endya and Erryn; two sisters: Carol and Mary (Fred); two brothers: Wilson and Eric (Angelique); four aunts: Josephine (Johnny), Elsie (Sandy), Gladys, and Joyce.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are also left to cherish fond memories of Shirley Mae.
Shirley Mae will be eulogized by Rev. Robert Jackson of the Jesus Center, Appomattox, VA.
In lieu of graveside flowers, the family requests potted plants or monetary contributions which can be made to the funeral home for Shirley’s memorial service.
If you so choose, please honor Shirley’s memory at the memorial service by wearing accents of yellow, as that was her favorite color.
Family and friends will be received at the home of the eldest son, Daniel, at his residence,
6653 Oakville Rd., Appomattox, VA, following the memorial service.
