Stephen Leroy "Tiger" Hamlett

Stephen Leroy Hamlett "The Tiger" departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Meadowlark subdivision in Appomattox, VA.  He was born on February 10, 1966, to Mabel Johns and Winfred Hamlett in Lynchburg, VA.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and sister, Arnita Goode.

Tiger graduated from Appomattox County High School.  During his high school years, he played basketball and football, with football being his love.  He worked as a  masonry and certified printer for Martin Printing Service.  At an early age, Tiger joined Galilee Baptist Church of Appomattox, VA.  He later joined Silver Grove Baptist Church, Rustburg, VA.  He was very active in church and served as an usher.  He loved his church and the Silver Grove Men's Chorus.

Tiger was a Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed fishing, gardening, singing, and many other activities.

Besides his parents, Tiger leaves to cherish his memory; two daughters, Sharita Marshall (Shaquan), and Lanita Morgan, both of Appomattox, VA; two sisters, Lolita Preston and Felicia Rose ("Jimmy Tale:), of Appomattox, VA; one brother, Jamal Hamlett, (Tiffany) of Appomattox, VA; three sisters, Tanya Elliott (Robert aka Beetle), JaNylah, bonus niece, Chanel Christian; nephews, Kiva Preston (Donna), Rico Rose (Vaven) Jae Rose, Chaz, Jessie, Javar and Jamar; 15 grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

God knows you had to leave us, but you did not go alone,

for part of us went with you, the day He took you home.

To some you are forgotten, to others just part of the past,

but to us who loved and lost you, the memory will

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023, at New Jerusalem  Baptist Church, Appomattox, VA, 24522.  Mr. Hamlett will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
