Terry Martin Jones

A light here on earth has been dimmed so that it can shine bright in heaven. Terry Martin Jones of Appomattox, Virginia departed this life on Friday, March 12, 2021 at his residence and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Terry was born on May 15, 1954 in Appomattox County, Virginia to the late James Robert and Alice L. Wiley Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Jerry Darnell, Kenneth Marvin and Roy Milton Jones. At an early age, Terry accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized. He then became a member of the Springfield Baptist Church. Terry was educated and graduated from the Appomattox County School System. Upon completing his education, he was employed by The Lime Plant, Riverville, Central Virginia Electric Cooperative, and Williams Gas and Pipeline (Transco) where he retired after thirty years of service. On June 15, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart Lucille Ferguson (fondly known as Doll). She became his devoted wife and they were married for forty-six years. In this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Katrina Liggon (James), and Trellita Jones both of Appomattox, VA. He also leaves to cherish his memories five grandchildren Terrence Christian (Alexa) of California, Jamar and India Christian, Kobe Booker and Jelani Liggon all of Appomattox. Four great-grandchildren Jordan, Makai, Dominic and Mason; four brothers, Robert of Maryland, James Otis (Mary), Leslie (Louise), Stanley (Lisa); two sisters Geraldine Glover and Beverly Johnson (Garrett) all of Appomattox; one aunt, Roberta Spencer of Buckingham. Extended family: four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Terry’s joy was being around family and friends. His grandkids were the apple of his eye. He loved dancing, entertaining and being outside. He had a passion for hunting, cutting grass and wood, and making visits throughout the neighborhood. 

ANNOUNCEMENT

The family of Mr. Terry Jones is respectfully requesting that all family and friends please be considerate and understanding of their desire to refrain from hosting a repast at the residence at the consummation of the service.

The family is very appreciative and grateful for all acts of kindness shown and demonstrations of love given and we say "thank you".  Please remember us in your prayers and keep us in your thoughts, and most certainly NEVER forget Terry!

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday, March 18, 2021, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

A PRIVATE FAMILY funeral service will be held on Friday,  March 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church.   A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Social distancing and wearing of facial masks are required at all events.
